Regional travelguide / shopping guide about Flevoland
Flevoland is the 12th province of the Netherlands, a real ‘polder’ where people live below sealevel. For example Almere, a New Town near Amsterdam, exists for 40 years only. The whole area is surrounded by ‘dijken’ (dikes).
When we moved from Amsterdam to a new built house in Almere, about 13 years ago now, we didn’t know what to expect. Could we find ‘special places’ here, in this new built land? So for about 2 years we explored the whole area to publish a book, a guide about Flevoland.
The second edition of ‘Vandaar Flevoland’ (Therefore Flevoland) 263 regional culinary, cultural, handmade, organic and special places in Flevoland was published in 2011! The book was for sale at a price of 12.95 in bookstores and the most tourist offices in and around Flevoland. We sold about 10.000 books. Hmm that’s a bestseller, isn’t it?
